Questions parents ask

The things worth knowing before you book: where sessions run, what they cost, how scheduling works, and what happens when life gets in the way.

Getting started

How do I book a first session?

Two ways. You can pay for a session or a package on the Programs page and Darius will contact you within a day to set the time, or you can send a note through the contact form and he will reply with what he would recommend for your player.

There is no calendar to fight with. The time gets set in a conversation, around your season and your week.

What ages do you train?

Private training is for players from 6 to 23. The small groups are split by birth year, with one group for players born 2015 to 2017 and one for players born 2012 to 2014. The holiday camp is for ages 5 to 13.

Sessions and programs

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions run at Select Soccer Center, 223 Keith Valley Road, Horsham, PA 19044. It is indoors, so training goes ahead whatever the weather is doing.

We train across Montgomery and Bucks counties, within about a 30-minute drive of Horsham.

How long is a session?

An hour, for both private and small group sessions.

What does it cost?

Private training is $100 a session, with packages at $475 for 5 sessions and $950 for 10 sessions.

Small group is $165 a player for three sessions, or $70 to drop in. November and December are priced the same.

The holiday camp is $175 a player.

Can I train with a friend or a teammate?

Yes, that is what the small group sessions are for. Up to 10 players train together, so sign up together in the same age group.

What should my player bring?

Cleats and water. The turf at Select Soccer is made for outdoor cleats, so regular cleats are fine.

When do the small groups run?

In November, players born 2015 to 2017 train Mondays, November 9, 16 and 23, and players born 2012 to 2014 train Wednesdays, November 11, 18 and 25. Both run 4:00 to 5:00 PM.

In December, both groups train Fridays, December 4, 11 and 18: 4:30 to 5:30 PM for players born 2015 to 2017, and 5:45 to 6:45 PM for players born 2012 to 2014.

When is the next camp, and what does it cost?

The Holiday Youth Camp runs Monday to Wednesday, December 28 to 30, from 9 AM to noon each day, at SoFive Soccer Center in Elkins Park. It is for ages 5 to 13, every skill level is welcome, and it costs $175 a player. Register and pay on the Programs page.

Payment and scheduling

How do I pay?

By card on the website when you book. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch this site.

What if we need to reschedule, or my player is sick?

Let Darius know at least 24 hours ahead and the session moves to another time. Sessions missed without that notice are not refunded.

Packages never expire, so a session you move is never lost.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Sessions are not refunded, but any session can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Do the packages expire?

No. The 5 and 10 session packages have no time limit. Sessions are booked around Darius’s availability.

Parents and safety

Can I watch the session?

Yes. Parents are welcome to watch, as long as they stay off the field and respect the training environment so the player can stay focused and get the most out of the session.

Do we have to sign anything?

Yes. Every parent accepts the training agreement before paying: a code of conduct and a liability waiver covering every program. You can read it in full at /agreement, and the site records which version you accepted and when.

Is Darius background checked and licensed?

Yes. Darius has a PA Child Abuse History Clearance (July 2025), a Pennsylvania State Police criminal record check (July 2022) and an FBI fingerprint check (July 2023).

He also holds the U.S. Soccer National C coaching license.

What happens if my player gets hurt?

Darius handles first aid, calls emergency services if that is needed, and contacts you. Soccer carries a risk of injury that coaching cannot remove, which is what the assumption of risk section of the training agreement sets out.

Who will my player actually be training with?

Darius Madison, every time. He is the one who runs the sessions: South Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Union Academy, a national championship at Virginia, then professional soccer in the USL and Australia. Matt Sirolli runs the business behind him.

Anything else

Do you work with teams or clubs?

Yes. Darius works with teams and clubs as well as individual players. Get in touch to talk through what your team needs.

How do I reach you?

Call or text (215) 620-1293, or email info@phillyrootssoccertraining.com. The contact form on this site reaches the same inbox.

Something not answered here? Ask before you sign up. A question by the contact form reaches the same two people who run the sessions.
